Slate Fire Northwest of Roosevelt Lake Stopped at 5 Acres

4/28 Tonto National Forest fire fighters responded to the Slate Fire, northwest of Roosevelt Lake Saturday. The fire forced the closure of Highway-87 in both directions for several hours. By the middle of afternoon, the forward progress of the fire had been stopped and the highway was reopened. Despite the strong winds, the human caused Slate Fire was stopped at just 5-acres.
