Improvement project on Milton Road in Flagstaff underway

Drivers who use southbound Milton Road in Flagstaff should plan for a reduced speed limit and possible lane closures due to an ADOT improvement project between Riordan Road and Plaza Way. Work will be occurring during overnight hours between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The $763,000 project will add a new right-turn lane from southbound 89A near Riordan Road to westbound Plaza Way. Once completed, the new 165-foot-long turn lane would accommodate a future bicycle lane. The project also includes full-width pavement reconstruction along 90 feet of Plaza Way; construction of an above-grade retaining wall with pedestrian safety rail and a stairway; installation of a new traffic signal; and water-line relocation. The project is scheduled for completion this fall.
