9/11 Kaibab National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this month, beginning with Moonset Pit as soon as September 20-th. The burning will continue through October as the weather and conditions allow for it. Officials say there are many burns planned across the forest including some in the Red Lake and Spring Valley areas, southeast of Tusayan, and the Jacob Lake and Demotte areas. Each location will be closed to the public during the burns. Visit inciweb.wildfire.gov/ for details and maps of planned burn areas.
