Joint Statement from NPD and FBI regarding Cameron Shooting

The Navajo Police Department and FBI are conducting a death investigation following a shooting Monday morning in Cameron, Ariz. The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m., leaving one person deceased and two others injured.

Immediately following the shooting, the NPD asked nearby residents at the Cameron Chapter House and a church to stay inside because the shooter had not been located and is still unaccounted for. The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted by mid-morning.

The NPD and FBI are asking for the public’s help in locating 44-year-old Derick Myron who may have information about today’s incident. Myron is listed as 5’10” with black hair and a slender build. He could possibly be driving a black 2017 Ford crew cab pickup with Arizona Navajo Nation license plate SLAVK.

Myron is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information should call, NPD Tuba City District at (928)283-3111/3112 or 911.
