Camp Verde Marshals Office – Human Smuggling

On 04-27-2024 at approximately 2140 hours, a Camp Verde Marshals Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe with a non-functioning headlight. The Deputy immediately recognized the possibility of human smuggling occurring when he noted 10 subjects packed inside the vehicle.

After having the driver who identified himself as “Napolean” exit the vehicle, inconsistent statements were provided along with the driver stating he forgot his wallet at work and did not remember his own birthday. A consent search resulted in the subject’s wallet being located along with a Mexico ID identifying the subject as 30-year-old Miguel Roblero.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were contacted to assist with processing the 9 occupants in the vehicle. While on scene, one of the passengers identified as 20-year-old Jasmin Alejandra Sanchez-Ortiz of Mexico was found to be in possession of a forged Social Security card as well as a forged permanent visa card belonging to a current U.S. Citizen.

Miguel was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County jail on charges of false reporting to Law Enforcement. Jasmin was also arrested and booked on multiple charges including taking the identity of another, fraudulent schemes, and forgery. ICE took custody of the remaining passengers and Miguel’s vehicle was impounded.
