Cottonwood Police Department Provides Details: Officer-Involved Shooting

The Cottonwood Police Department is issuing this statement and incident brief to provide clarity and transparency regarding the officer-involved shooting that transpired on April 12, 2024, in the 500 block of South 12th Street in Cottonwood.

At around 7:50 PM, an officer from the Cottonwood Police Department, who has six years of experience in law enforcement, conducted a traffic stop that tragically ended in the death of the suspect. The individual has been identified as 32-year-old Donovan Jelicich, a resident of Cottonwood.

In accordance with standard procedure, the officer has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave. The officer and the patrol vehicle were equipped with recording devices, ensuring a comprehensive incident review.
