Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two Arizona men Friday on felony drug and contraband charges following a traffic stop in Cottonwood.
After obtaining permission to search the vehicle, deputies said they found methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia inside. They arrested the driver, 53-year-old Shawn McCurdy of Peoria. Deputies also confirmed an active arrest warrant from Camp Verde for the passenger, 25-year-old Alejandro Hernandez-Casiano of Cottonwood. After arriving at the Camp Verde jail, a subsequent search of both men by detention officers turned up other items. Deputies said they found 55 fentanyl pills and drug paraphernalia on Hernandez-Casiano, and additional paraphernalia on McCurdy.
Both men were booked on felony counts of Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Promoting Prison Contraband. Hernandez-Casiano faces additional felony counts of Possession of Narcotic Drugs and Possession of Narcotic Drugs for sale.
