California Man Sentenced to 46 Years in Prison for Sexually Assaulting a Minor

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced that Bacilio Borquez, 40 years old, of Visalia, CA was sentenced on October 30, 2023 to 46 years in prison after a Yavapai County jury found him guilty of Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Sexual Assault of a fourteen year-old minor.

County Attorney McGrane thanked prosecutor Casi Harris for her hard work in preparing the case for trial, and commended the jury for their careful attention during the trial. County Attorney McGrane stated, “Crimes such as this have no place in Yavapai County. My office and our law enforcement partners will relentlessly pursue those who target and abuse children. Our community must stand together to protect our children. I encourage anyone who believes that a child is being abused to report their suspicions.”

Borquez’s trial followed a thorough investigation by the Chino Valley Police Department into the sexual assault of a fourteen year-old girl in Chino Valley, AZ. After committing the crimes, Borquez left the area and went to California. The Yavapai County Attorney’s Office brought charges against Borquez and extradited him back to Yavapai County where they obtained a DNA sample from Borquez, which was used at the trial. The jury returned guilty verdicts on September 7, 2023.
