Man Shoots 2 Brothers at Seligman Gas Station

On Saturday, October 7 shortly before 4 pm, YCSO Deputies were dispatched to reports of a shooting at the Shell gas station off I-40 Exit 122 in Seligman. The 911 caller stated that 2-3 subjects had been shot and the shooter was still on scene, appearing to be reloading his weapon at his vehicle. DPS Troopers, who were nearby, responded and found the shooter, Vincent Ogawa of Seligman, inside his vehicle in the parking lot where he was taken into custody without incident.

YCSO Deputies arrived on scene with Fire and EMS and located two gunshot victims, both adult males from out of state. One male was shot in the arm and lower abdomen.  The second victim, brother of the first victim, had a gunshot wound to the mid torso.  Both men were flown to a Flagstaff hospital.

The victims and several friends and family had been on a motorcycle trip when they stopped at the Shell station in Seligman. One of the bikes developed a mechanical problem and when the two brothers pushed the motorcycle closer to the store, Vincent Ogawa who was sitting on a bench, approached the victims. The three men had a heated verbal exchange, with Ogawa pulling out a gun and firing three shots at the men.

YCSO was able to ascertain that the victims had no personal connection to the shooter and had never met him before this incident.  Evidence located at the scene including video surveillance confirmed Ogawa acted alone.

YCSO is not releasing the names of the victims at this time. Both victims are currently listed in stable condition.
