Prescott Valley Police Accepting Applications for 2023 Citizens Police Academy

The Prescott Valley Police Department is accepting applications for its 2023 Citizen Police Academy. Applications will be accepted through Thursday, August 10, and the Academy begins Tuesday, August 22.  Sessions will take place at the Prescott Valley PD Training room, 7601 E. Skoog Blvd., from 6-9 p.m. every Tuesday night through October 17, 2023. There is no charge for the Academy, and the public is encouraged to attend.

The nine-week Academy is an in-depth look at the mission, philosophy, and operations of the Prescott Valley Police Department, and the extensive training officers receive to better serve the community’s residents. Some of the classes presented include firearms training, special weapons and tactics, traffic and DUI enforcement, gang task force, K9 Program, Crime Prevention, volunteers in policing, and much more. This is a great way to learn more about the people and practices of the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Seating is limited to 40 attendees and applicants must pass a background check. For additional information and an application, visit http://pvaz.net/805/citizens-police-academy.  Applications are also available in the station lobby. All applications must be signed and submitted to the Crime Prevention Unit. All participants will be notified of their acceptance into the class by August 16. This class fills up quickly, so don’t miss the opportunity to attend this in-depth, behind the scenes look at police operations.  We look forward to meeting you!
