Cottonwood City Council Chooses New Member

COTTONWOOD- Derek Palosaari was selected as the newest city councilmember on Monday. The council returned from executive session at the special meeting Monday night an announced that Palosaari was chosen to fill the seat vacated by Councilmember Tosca Henry, according to Acting City Clerk Tami S. Mayes on Tuesday. Henry’s resignation was accepted on April 18. Palosaari said he grew up in Cottonwood, graduated from Mingus Union High School in 1992 and has a “sense of community.” He did move away to Phoenix to play football at Glendale Community College and then work in Lake Havasu and Boston, Massachusetts, briefly before moving back to Cottonwood three years ago.
