VACTE Students Win Big at Arizona Skills USA Competition

Local high school students were a bright light for Valley Academy for Career & Technical Education in the Arizona SkillsUSA Region 4 competition. VACTE came away with five first- place finishes at the Career & Technical Education Center at Yavapai College. The VACTE Law Enforcement team of Rein George, Anne Marie Barrett and Shyann Hardy, all from Mingus Union High School, won the Crime Scene Investigation category. Tristan Black of Camp Verde High School placed second in Electrical. Home school student Jacob Jones won the Carpentry category. Behind him, Matthew Rodriquez of MUHS was second, and Cai Diehl of CVHS was third. Everyone in the top three qualified for the State Leadership & Skills Conference, which is April 11-12 in Phoenix.
