Rural Residents See Delay in Internet Service Upgrades

Residents in the Mayer, Paulden, Rimrock and Cornville areas who are unserved or underserved with high-speed Internet will face a delay in getting the service, as planned, through a Yavapai County initiative. The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors agreed to terminate a $12.8 million contract with CSC Holdings LLC (the holding company for Altice USA, Inc.), because the company had reportedly not been meeting its scheduling benchmarks for required tasks. The vote came after a closed-door executive session discussion between the supervisors and the board’s legal counsel about the matter on Wednesday. The supervisors had also discussed the contract in executive session several times prior to this week.
