Rescue Crews Dispatched to Empty Vehicle

Rescue crews were dispatched to a water rescue for a Jeep at Mormon Crossing, but, while responding to the scene, they were informed the vehicle had been in Oak Creek for a few hours, according to Verde Valley Fire. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s office and National Forest Service had made contact with the vehicle owner earlier in the day. The blue jeep was about 100 yards downstream from Mormon Crossing on East Willow Point Road, where a yellow caution sign blocked the road. The flowing river water was several feet deep over the crossing. The lights and wipers on the Jeep were still working. YCSO noted the driver had been able to walk away from the situation, which then became about an abandoned vehicle and no longer an emergency.
