Sedona Offers Incentives for Local Renting

The Sedona City Council wants vacation-home owners to rent to local workers and is offering cash incentives. The council is considering whether it should move forward with a Rent Local program. Many workers in Sedona, including City of Sedona employees, have to live in other Verde Valley towns because the median home price in Sedona is now over $900,000.

The City of Sedona government statement explains that other resort cities have “incentivize short-term rental owners to provide long-term affordable leases to local workers.” Many people blame the local deregulation of vacation-home rentals by the Arizona Legislature for the skyrocketing price of homes in Sedona.
