City of Cottonwood Awaits Election Results

While there were clear-cut winners in Clarkdale and Jerome in the unofficial vote tallies, the City of Cottonwood still had questions after Tuesday’s municipal elections. Cottonwood City Clerk Marianne Jimenez said the city won’t know who is elected until they get more results from the county “which could take a few days.” Lisa DuVernay, Debbie Wilden and Stephen DeWillis are candidates for Cottonwood City Council’s three available seats. Wilden, an incumbent, and newcomer DuVernay were on the ballot, but DeWillis was a write-in candidate. Friday, the count showed both Wilden and DuVernay with over 1,700 votes. The city clerk said it is not known how DeWillis did because the county’s public election results aren’t showing any write-in candidate tabulations. He has to reach a certain threshold of votes to get on the general election ballot.
