Two School Officials Plead Guilty in Fraud Case

Two school officials are up on felony charges. The two are accused of fraud and misusing taxpayer money pled guilty Monday in Superior Court to one felony charge.

Lois Lamer, former superintendent of Valley Academy for Career and Technology Education in Cottonwood, and Dennis Fiscus, a former CTE program director at the Arizona Department of Education, each admitted to “solicitation of violation of duties of a custodian of public monies,” They had faced five felony charges each. Fiscus was fired in 2015. Lamer “retired” in 2016.

The plea agreement stipulates that they pay restitution of $7,500 and another $2,000 to the Attorney General Anti-Racketeering Revolving Fund. The terms place them on unsupervised probation.

They are also required to perform 100 hours of community service.
