Man wanted for assaulting a Forest Service Law Enforcement Office captured by Jerome Police

YCSO says Jerome Police Wednesday captured the man wanted for the Tuesday afternoon attack of a Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer or LEO near Palatki Ruins near Sedona. 33-year old Jonathan Medford is now in the custody of YCSO. Officials say the officer responded to Forest Road 525 on a report a man and woman were blocking the road leading to the ruins. Medford gave the officer a false ID and was armed with a large knife. A struggle ensued when the officer tried to take Medford into custody. Medford reportedly tried to take the officers weapon, but failed. The officer tried to chase Medford, but lost sight of him. Medford was also wanted on a felony warrant out of Yavapai County Superior Court.
