Trail Closure in effect for Trail East of Lynx Lake to Protect Bald Eagles

Prescott National Forest officials are actively enforcing the bald eagle closure near Lynx Lake in Prescott. The restrictions are in place and apply to a 1-mile stretch of the John’s Tank Trail that is east of Lynx Lake and connects the Lynx Lake Shore Trail to the Salida Gulch Trail. The nest is visible on the skyline to the east from the boat launch at South Shore. Trail cameras will be used to monitor the success of the closure. A portion of the Verde River, the Ladders Breeding Area in Camp Verde, is also closed. The bald eagle closures continue through June, unless the eagles are not successful in hatching young.
