Stage-1 Fire Restrictions go statewide Friday at 8-am

Prescott and Coconino National Forest Zone Fire Management Officer Brian Steinhardt says drought conditions have had and continue to have a dramatic impact on our forests. He says the forests and local fire jurisdictions all agree that it’s time to implement the restrictions across the area. Stage-1 restrictions mean campfires are only allowed in designated campgrounds and smoking is only allowed in enclosed buildings or vehicles. Restrictions can vary from one area to another so it’s always best to check with your local fire agency on what restrictions are in place. If human caused fires continue to be an issue, Stage-2 restrictions will be put in place, which bans all fires.
