Further released on Sedona Officer Involved Shooting

A few more details have been released in the officer involved shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Sedona Airport Sunday. Sedona Police say 37-year old Michael Bergsman was the person shot by a Sedona Police officer. Just before 11-am, police responded to the airport on a report three people had just stolen a vehicle and drove it onto the airport taxiway. Officers attempted to arrest Bergsma, Cynthia Williams and Thomas Trantham in the parking lot. Bergsma ran and when the officer caught up with him, tried to take the officers weapon. The officer fired once, striking Bergsma in the abdomen. Trantham also struggled with officers and was tased. Williams was also arrested. Bergsma was taken to the hospital where he was treated and then released. All three were jailed on felony charges. The officer suffered minor injuries and is on paid administrative leave.
