Prescott National Forest to continue removing feral cattle along Verde River

Prescott National Forest crews say the removal of feral cattle along the Verde River continues. Officials say contractors are capturing and removing unauthorized and/or feral cattle from portions of the Verde River on the Tonto, Coconino and Prescott National Forests. The Childs area, outside Camp Verde, will be temporarily closed through December 16-th, while the roundup occurs. Beasley Flats in Camp Verde will remain open at this time to provide the public boating opportunities. The Childs Dispersed Camping Area is included in the closure area, which will extend from about half a mile above the Verde Hot Springs down to the confluence of the Verde River with Fossil Creek.
