7 vehicle crash in Prescott sends 2 to the hospital

Friday afternoon, Prescott Fire crews responded to a 7-vehicle crash on Highway-69 in front of Frontier Village. Division Chief Don Devendorf says 911 callers reported several people trapped in vehicles and one vehicle was on fire. Crews arrived to find the vehicles spread out over 100-yards with three of the vehicles showing heavy damage. A fire extinguisher had been used to extinguish the fire in one of the vehicles before fire crews arrived and a police officer had removed the patient from the vehicle and was assisting him on the ground. Devendorf says two other patients were found on the side of the highway and were being assisted by bystanders. The person in the burning vehicle was flown to a Phoenix area hospital with a second person transported to YRMC. Highway-69 was closed for over an hour while a gas tank leak was addressed and vehicles and debris were removed from the highway.
