Motorists should use extreme caution on forest service roads due to wet conditions

The recent wet weather has created hazardous driving conditions on many Kaibab National Forest roads, and motorists are urged to plan ahead and exercise caution when visiting. Spokesperson Jackie Banks says while forest roads remain open, motorists should be aware that they could encounter a range of conditions. She says roads are slushy, icy and in some cases, impassable. Several motorists became stranded last weekend during the storm when they tried to use the forest service roads to get around the closures on I-40. Road conditions are the same on both the Prescott and Coconino National Forests as well as the higher elevations of the Tonto National Forest.
