Monsoon impacts light today for most locations

The National Weather Service says a mid-level high pressure system was centered over the New Mexico/Colorado border and will remain there through Saturday. From Sunday onward the high will shift a bit south and east as a trough moving in from the west brushes the state. Today through Saturday we should expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. The showers will be most numerous over the higher elevation locations, especially the White Mountains. Temperatures will remain hot with daytime highs between 100 and 110 degrees in the lower elevations. Next week conditions will dry out again, but we should see a return of the monsoon by late in the week.
