Chino Valley man charged with 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of a 16 year old girl

A Chino Valley man is charged with 2-nd degree murder in the Sunday afternoon death of a 16-year old girl. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says charged with the shooting death is 19-year old Johnathan Rice. The incident occurred just east of Chino Valley off Perkinsville Road. A group of individuals drove out to an area off Perkinsville Road, east of Chino Valley, around mile marker 12 to have a party and consume alcoholic beverages. Rice was in possession of a revolver and had been firing the gun randomly. At one point, while the group was inside the bed of a pickup truck, Rice fired a round that struck 16-year-old Aneesa Williams from Chino Valley, striking Williams in the head. An off duty police officer came upon the scene and contacted YCSO. D’Evelyn says Rice and Williams were with at least 2 other individuals and detectives are documenting their statements as part of the investigation.
