Dump truck rolls on Highway-89A in Prescott spilling its load of boulders

A failed tire sent a dump-truck hauling boulders off Highway-89A Wednesday afternoon. Prescott Fire officials say several drivers witnessed the truck leave the roadway in the area of Granite Dells Parkway and roll onto the passenger side. Fire crews stabilized the patient, opened the crushed cab and dealt with a ruptured diesel fuel tank. The driver was taken to FMC for helicopter with multiple injuries. Fire crews would like to once again remind drivers to be mindful of first responder safety during roadway incidents.  Distracted drivers looking at the incident pose a risk to personnel working on the scene. This week alone two fire engines in the country were struck in separate incidents while parked on scenes; one resulted in a vehicle fire, which destroyed the engine and the other resulted in the death of the civilian driver.
