YCSO K9 finds 18 pounds of meth during a traffic stop

Recently, YCSO K9 deputies stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on northbound I-17 at the Orme/Dugas off ramp. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the driver, David Tienda-Calixtro, of Mexico, was extremely nervous and not licensed to drive. The deputy detected ongoing deception and suspected the vehicle contained drugs. David was asked and consented to a search of the sedan. The initial search of the interior did not reveal any contraband. The deputy deployed his certified K9 partner Maximus who alerted to the rear passenger door area of the vehicle, then used a special video scope camera in that area and located a hidden compartment containing 18 one pound packages of methamphetamine. Calixtro was jailed on felony drug charges.
