Two people were injured in a vehicle versus house accident in the Verde Villages Monday night. Verde Valley Fire Chief Joe Moore says the incident occurred in the 6100 block of Mesa Drive. He says they arrived to find a vehicle had driven into the house and then backed out and into the street. He says the homeowner and the driver of the vehicle were taken to VVMC for treatment. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says their investigation determined that 26-year old Wayne Area Jr., who lives nearby, stole his step-fathers vehicle, missed a turn and crashed into the house. Area fled, but was caught nearby. The 65-year old homeowner suffered broken ribs. D’Evelyn says there were signs that Area was DUI at the time of the crash.
