Minor flooding a possibility with weekend storm

The National Weather Service has upped our chances for rain and snow showers as another series of events are slated to move through the state. Showers are forecast  to begin Saturday morning over portions of Coconino and Yavapai Counties, before spreading eastward through the remainder of the day. There appears to be just enough instability to warrant a slight chance for thunderstorms during the afternoon hours. Temperatures are relatively warm with this system, so snow levels will remain above populated areas. While little impact is expected from snowfall,   rain on the existing snowpack is cause for some minor flooding concerns. In addition, wind speeds will increase on Saturday, with wind gusts into the 35 to 45 mph range possible. As a result, Wind Advisories may be necessary as we get closer to the event. Showers may linger into Monday, but most areas will be dry early next week. Long range models are showing the possibility for another weather system around the middle of next week.
