K9 Haddie alerts to 18 pounds of meth

YCSO K9 Haddie was instrumental in making a large methamphetamine bust last week. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says a deputy stopped 20-year old Jhampier Mendoza Torez on I-17 in Codes Lakes for moving and equipment violations. He says during the contact, Torez acted very nervous, which lead to K9 Haddie being deployed on the vehicle. A positive alert was given and a search of the vehicle began. D’Evelyn says the deputies found 18-pounds of meth concealed in a panel in the back of the driver’s seat. During the interview, the New Mexico man admitted to transporting drugs to support his family.
