Cottonwood area teen rolls car and is charged with DUI

A Cottonwood area 17-year old was arrested on charges of DUI early Sunday morning. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says deputies responded to the area of Copper Drive in the Verde Villages where they found a vehicle had rolled several times.  The teen was standing across the roadway not wearing shoes or a shirt. He indicated his hand hurt and he suffered some scratches on his chest. The teen told deputies his tires were bald and lacked proper inflation and thus he lost traction. During the conversation, deputies detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The teen denied drinking. The portable breath analyzer provided a reading of .153, almost twice the legal limit. D’Evelyn says the passenger in the vehicle told deputies he and the driver had been drinking prior to driving. The driver was turned over to his mother after being charged with DUI, DUI drugs and underage drinking and driving.
