Health officials say Arizona’s blood inventory is in a CODE RED situation.

Health officials say Arizona’s blood inventory is in a CODE RED situation. Yesterday, 243 Arizona Hospital orders for blood were pending and today that number rose to 456. Officials say fewer and fewer people are taking the time to donate blood, but the need has not changed. They say blood usage peaks in January, which is why this month is National Blood Donor Month, to remind donors that they are needed now more than ever. Flagstaff Police are hosting a Blood Drive today, from 11-4 PM at the station on East Sawmill Road. Friday a blood drive will be held from 10-3:30 at FMC in Basha’s Shopping Center on North Humphreys. January 18th a drive is being held in Cottonwood from 10-3 at the Nutranext office on Justin Drive. And again on January 23rd in Sedona from 9-2 at Sedona Red Rock High School.
