The city of Flagstaff announces Public Works Director Andy Bertelsen as this year’s recipient of the Mary Jo Jenkins’ Outstanding Director of the Year award. The award is given in honor of the late Mary Jo Jenkins, the city of Flagstaff’s Management Services Director from 1987-2009. City Manager Barbara Goodrich says Bertelsen was selected for his exemplary leadership during this past year. Under his leadership, Goodrich says the new Core Services Yard construction was successfully completed, the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan was adopted, a Rethink Solid Waste Plan was approved and is being implemented and the aftermath of a large flood event was well managed.
