Cordes Lakes man charged with stealing from his roommate

A Cordes Lakes man is in jail after he allegedly stole all of his roommate’s property when he moved out of the residence. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the crime occurred in mid-December when the victim was away and 22-year old Garrette Remington suddenly moved out. He says the investigating deputy spoke with Remington by phone and Remington claimed he had purchased a truck from his uncle and was now living in California; Remington denied stealing several guns from the victim as well as a gaming console. Further investigation led deputies to a home in Chino Valley where Remington had been living for at least a week. The stolen property was found in an outbuilding on the property as well as a room inside the house. D’Evelyn says Remington implicated a second person in the burglary and that part of the investigation is ongoing. Remington was jailed on burglary charges.
