Wheeler Park pedestrian bridge deemed unsafe; City decides on removal.

The pedestrian bridge in Flagstaff that spans from Wheeler Park to the downtown Library parking lot, known as the Wheeler Bridge, was recently deemed unsafe after a structural assessment. The bridge has been closed to the public since June while city staff evaluated possible options. After reviewing the anticipated costs and life-span of a replacement or repair the city decided to remove the bridge. The city will begin to dismantle and remove the bridge this week and expect the project will be complete by Dec. 21st. No word yet on when it will be replaced.
