Habitat for Humanity back on track after burglary with generous donations from the public.

Habitat for Humanity is back on track after a recent burglary thanks to generous donations from the public. Back in September, around $6,000 in power tools, used by Habitat for Humanity volunteers for ongoing home-building projects, and a generator were stolen. A security video captured the image of an unidentified suspect using a cart to carry the generator through the Habitat work yard, located on Highway 89A in Cottonwood, and out through a gate. Executive Director of the Verde Valley Habitat of Humanity Tania Simms says since then they received donations amounting to more than $10,500 to replace the stolen power tools. And extra security has been installed to protect them. Simms says now Habitat can resume its current projects of building a triplex in Sedona and a single-family home in Rimrock as well as their Critical Home Repair program. The Cottonwood Police Department is investigating the theft, but has not come up with any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cottonwood Police Dept. or Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity.
