Monsoon delivers much needed rain through August in most locations

The National Weather Service in Bellemont released the weather stats for the month of August. August saw a continuation of nearly daily thunderstorm activity. Monthly precipitation amounts were the highest along and south of the Mogollon Rim with above normal rainfall for Flagstaff and Prescott. Northeastern Arizona was drier than normal, with Window Rock and Show Low receiving less than half the normal August rainfall. Temperatures were warmer than normal across the region. Many locations reported flash flooding and hail during the month. There was also a tornado confirmed near Cosnino on August 18-th and a funnel cloud near Young on August 12-th.
