The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety released the DUI stats from the Labor Day weekend. Between Friday and Monday, a total of 531-DUI arrests were made statewide; that’s up from 510 last year and 463 in 2016. Aggravated, misdemeanor and extreme DUI’s were all up from last year. Also up from last year were the Under-21 DUI arrests. This year there were 27 arrests; last year 20. DUI drug arrests were up slightly with 23 this year and 20 last year. Contact was also made with 734 designated drivers this year with 598 last year. With the holiday season just around the corner, additional DUI details will be conducted at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
