More than 2 inches of rain fall in Prescott in an hour Thursday

Thursday’s storms brought torrential rains, strong winds and thousands of lightning strikes to northern Arizona. Just before noon a Flood Advisory was issued for the Prescott area where 2-inches of rain fell in a little more than an hour. A strong thunderstorm also impacted Peeples Valley at around 2:30-pm. The storm was nearly stationary producing heavy rain and small hail. The National Weather Service in Bellemont says an incredible amount of lightning came with the Thursday storms; from 10-am to 8-pm, some 27,407 lightning strikes were recorded in northern Arizona.
