Sedona Fire crews responded to 4-consecutive calls for traumatic injuries at Slide Rock State Park on Saturday. Fire Marshal Jon Davis says it’s not unusual to get one or two calls a day on a busy weekend from the park, but 4-in 4-hours is. He says twice, crews performed a technical rescue from the top of the bridge using a belay system to extricate the patient shutting down Highway 89A briefly. Davis says the number of rescues increases dramatically with the intense heat. He says they normally respond to an average of 3000 calls per year, this year the number will be more likely around 4500.
