The current drought conditions from the National Weather Service in Flagstaff

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has released the current drought conditions. Most of northern Arizona recorded below normal precipitation again in May, with the exception of a few areas along and near the Mogollon Rim. As a result of the continuation of dry conditions, and several periods of warm, windy weather, drought conditions worsened over the majority of the state, with most of Northern Arizona now in extreme or exceptional drought.

We should expect temperatures will be above normal this week, with breezy afternoons. Critical fire weather conditions will be possible across portions of northern Arizona Wednesday and Thursday. There is an increasing threat of lightning-caused fire starts this weekend due to thunderstorms with little precipitation. No indications yet on start of monsoon season, which is typically around July 1st.
