Knoll Fire near Payson 100% contained

The Knoll Fire was contained Sunday. The blaze was burning about 13-miles northeast of Payson. Tonto National Forest officials say the fire burned 60-acres before it was contained. The cause of the fire was linked to fireworks, which are illegal to use in most locations in the state. Officials say smoke will be visible from the burn area for several days as larger materials burn within the fire containment lines. A temporary closure remains in place around the burn area. The fire began Friday.
