Kidde is recalling over 450,000 of it’s dual-sensor, photoelectric and ionization, smoke alarms

Kidde is recalling over 450,000 of it’s dual-sensor, photoelectric and ionization, smoke alarms. The recall is due to a yellow cap being left on during the manufacturing process that can cover one of the two smoke sensors and compromise the smoke alarm’s ability to detect smoke, posing a risk of consumers not being alerted to a fire in their home. Units included in the recall are models PI2010 and PI9010. Officials say to visually inspect alarms through the opening on the side for the presence of a yellow cap.  And if a yellow cap is present, contact Kidde to receive a free replacement smoke alarm. No reports of incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled alarms were sold at Home Depot and Walmart locally.
