9/21 Prescott National Forest officials say the fuels reduction project on Badger Mountain, is moving forward on schedule. The work is taking place south/southeast of Prescott. Crews are creating a 200-foot-wide fuel break on the north side of the mountain. The goal of the 1,200-acre project is to help reduce fuels that could lead to a catastrophic wildfire in Prescott, Oak Knoll and Sherman Pines. The project also calls for prescribed burning, but that will occur at a later date.
