No Water/Overnight Camping at Grand Canyon South Rim Starting Dec 6

12/3 Grand Canyon National Park will increase water restrictions on the South Rim, starting this Saturday, due to several breaks in the Transcanyon Waterline that need to be repaired. Due to the water issue, there will also be a temporary closure of all overnight guest lodging at El Tovar, Bright Angel Lodge and Maswik Lodge, starting Saturday. Officials say they’ve been struggling with the water supply since mid-November and currently there is no water being pumped to the South Rim. Dry camping is allowed, but campfires are banned. It’s unclear how long it will take to repair the waterline.
