Cottonwood – Water Demand Reduction Strategy Level back to Level 1 for Verde Santa Fe

With the recent identification and repair of a major longstanding water leak, the City of Cottonwood’s Mayor, at the recommendation of the Director of Utilities, has reduced the Water Demand Reduction Strategy level back to a level 1 for the Verde Santa Fe and Amante development (Verde Santa). The Water Demand Reduction Strategy level 1, entitled “Water Smart,” is in effect year-round, without the need of a declaration, and is designed to be a proactive measure for the responsible use of water. The goals of demand reduction strategy 1 are to continually conserve water consistent with living in a desert environment, to avoid waste and other unnecessary consumption, and to maintain water demand at a level that is continuously below safe production levels. The primary measures of Water Demand Reduction Strategy 1 include:

  1. No irrigation shall occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  2. No person shall waste water, as defined by city ordinance 13.16.010, B.17.

The Utility Department continues to monitor and track water supplies and demands to ensure a safe and reliable supply of water is available to meet the needs of all customers. For more information, please contact the City of Cottonwood’s Utility Department at 928-634-0186.
