As Copper Canyon Fire crews were heading back to the station from a brush fire Sunday morning, they noticed a column of black smoke coming from the downtown area of Camp Verde. Crews found a small commercial building on fire on South Main Street. The fire was knocked down in about 20-minutes; the building sustained heavy damage. Officials say the building was unoccupied and was going through some renovations. What caused the fire is under investigation.
