UPDATE: Forward Progress Stopped/Butte Fire Near Apache Lake

UPDATE: Road closure from State Route 188 to Apache Lake Marina has been lifted. Please use caution for the safety of the public and firefighters as they conduct fire suppression operations.
New wildfire start: #ButteFire
Date started: July 11, 2024, reported at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Cause: Lightning
Size: approximately 100 acres
Containment: 0
Location: near Apache Lake and northeast of Bronco Butte mountain between Fish Creek and NFS Road 79 that leads toward Apache Lake Marina & Resort, Tonto Basin Ranger District.
Resources on scene: Four engines and a Type 4 Incident Commander. Air attack, water tender, handcrew in route.
Arizona Department of Transportation has issued a road closure from State Route 188 to Apache Lake Marina for the safety of the public and firefighters as they conduct fire suppression operations.
Apache Lake Marina, private residences and powerlines are within proximity of the #ButteFire but are not threatened at this time.
