As the weather gets cooler, City of Prescott officials want to remind citizens the importance of winterizing your home. Winter temperatures often freezes water in pipes, causing them to burst. Here are some tips to prevent broken pipes this winter at your home or business: Properly drain your evaporative cooler, sprinkler or irrigation systems. Insulate pipes that are susceptible to cold temperatures. Disconnect garden hoses and cover hose bibs. Officials also say if you’re going to be gone for the season, you should consider completely draining all water lines and fixtures. And of course, always know where your water shutoff valve is in case you do have a pipe burst.
